A Dream i Had

Last night, 14/01/2021, I had a long dream. I had been trying to reset my body clock, so I stayed up the entire night last night, so my brain wasn't in the best of places.

First, I dreamt that I was on an expedition to the artic. I travelled with a group of people, wearing jumpsuits of red, orange, yellow, green. My jumpsuit was red, and I befriended the person with the orange jumpsuit. We all wore large, one-way helmets.

When we approached the artic tundra, we found a large, long shaft. In it, was an elevator.

The next thing we knew, we were inside the elevator, riding the way down. It had no buttons, no nothing. All I remember was the feeling of descending deeper.

The elevator stopped at multiple floors, but what I can recall were ‘doors’.

The first floor was a door to a strange jungle, without animals. It had fauna and our group explored it, trudging through it before we returned to the elevator. I recall the taste of lions, but no monkeys.

The second floor was a connection to the first, the door to a lido deck of a group of humans, examining the jungle below. I recall one of the humans looking at us, his name was Roger. He thought it was peculiar that we were wearing such large jumpsuits, and stabbed our green and yellow friends. The humans chased after us, and the orange and me managed to get back into the elevator.

The third floor was a door into a sea. When the elevator opened, I remember sitting in a seat with a handle. My helmet was gone, and I was surrounded by the others, with facial features I no longer remember. The water flooded the area, and I joked with my friend on my left that the water level was rather shallow. The water began to flow, and soon it reached to the point of my chin. I stood up in the elevator, but the water continued to rise until all I could do was struggle to keep my head above water. I remember my friends doing the same, following an old man that I remember had a short white beard and glasses, telling us to follow him out into the sea. I remember flailing my right hand in the water to pick up my glasses.

I remember walking through the water, desperately keeping my face above the surface, walking slowly through the water. As I walked, I remember the water level slowly decreasing, and soon we were back in a strange, desert/jungle hybrid land. I remember walking through the yellow jungle, eating weird, juicy fruit that had no taste. I remember jumping onto a ledge and hanging something from a tree branch, that floated above into the sky. Then when I got back down to the ground, I saw the shaft open for me again, alone.

The fourth floor was a door into a comfortingly dark room. When I entered, I heard a monologue. I cannot remember what the monologue was about, but I found myself looking out of a window, into the darkness. As I pressed my hand against the window, I saw small openings of white, squarish light, of people stepping through the openings to pull other people through.

I remember walking through an art gallery, with paintings with only frames lining the hall. The monologue was still going, but I cannot remember what it was. I see Roger again, at the end of the hall. I meet up with him and he brings me to the gift shop. There, he shows me a long line of shelves of multiple layers, and he asks me to pick a line of shelves to take with me.

The first shelf I see were of trinkets and collectibles, and the second were of money and other things I cannot remember. I could not see any specific shelf besides these two, so I turned to Roger and said, ‘Is there any others?’

More shelves than appeared before me. Some had stuffed toys, some had living animals, but what drew my eye was a shelf that held statues of kings and queens. It was a very empty shelf, but the statues that were on it had small tags that held gibberish, facets of human, men and women. For some reason I remember the name ‘Elizabeth’ being one of the statues that I looked through.

I remember turning to Roger and saying, ‘This one.’ Whether I chose the statue shelf or not, I am not sure.

He clapped, as if I had made the right choice, and detailed what that choice meant.

He said, in parts, that if I had made any other choice then I would be easier to classify. To pick the shelf that I did showed nothing of who I was, and he laughed.

I then entered the large white opening in front of me, and I woke up.
